Important note: Works of foreign (non-U.S.) origin must be out of copyright or freely licensed in both their home country and the United States in order to be accepted on Commons. Works of Chinese origin that have entered the public domain in the U.S. due to certain circumstances (such as publication in noncompliance with U.S. copyright formalities) may have had their U.S. copyright restored under the Uruguay Round Agreements Act (URAA) if the work was under copyright in its country of origin on the date that the URAA took effect in that country. (For the People's Republic of China, the URAA took effect on January 1, 1996. For the Republic of China (ROC), the URAA took effect on January 1, 2002.[1])

Public domain تقع هذه الصُّورة في النِّطاق العامِّ في الدنمارك لأن التَّشريع المُوحَّد لحقوق التَّأليف والنَّشر الصَّادر في عام 2010م يُحدِّد في المادة الخامِسة مِن القسم 91 أنَّ الصُّور الضَّوئية الَّتي التقطت قبل 1 يناير 1970م لا تُعدُّ أَعمال صُورٍ ضوئِيَّة وتُستثَنى من الحماية بحقوق التَّأليف والنَّشر (التَّفاصيل).

تَدخل "أعمال الصُّور الضَّوئِيَّة" (يَلزم أن تحتوي بعداً فنيَّاً أو عملاً أَصيلاً) النِّطاق العامَّ بعد 70 عاماً من موت المُصوِّر ما خلا ذلك من الصور الضوئية فإنَّها تُصبح في النِّطاق العام إذا التقطت قبل 1 يناير 1970م أو إذا مرت 50 عاماً على التقاطها.

قد يختلف تعريف عتبة الأصالة في بعض البلدان فتُطبِّق نتيجة لذلك بنود حماية أطول مدةً، ولا يجوز استعمال هذه الصُّورة في تلك البلدان.

إلى الرَّافع: يلزم إِضافة سنة التقاط الصورة (أو إثبات أنّها التقطت قبل عام 1970م على الأقل)
ملاحظة: بالإضافة لهذا الوسم، يلزم إضافة وسم آخر يُوضِّح لماذا تقع هذه الصَّورة في النِّطاق العام في الولايات المُتحدة الأمريكية. مثلاً: {{PD-1996}}.
